I am converting from Excel to Open Office Calc. In Excel the drawing toolbar had a text box. The closest thing in OoCalc is a rectangle. Playing around I discovered that I can insert a rectancle then double click in the rectange to get a cursor. I then move my pointer outside the rectangle and click drag and unclick to create a new box and enter text into it before it loses focus. Now I have created a box that acts like the Excel Text Box and it appears to be independent of the rectangle that I created first. Why isn't my imessage working for one person. ![]() Select a shape or a connector line to activate the Format tab. Click the tab and then click Text Box in the Insert Shapes section. Draw the text box near the connector you want to label. Move the text box to where you want it the same way you move shapes. You may want to turn off Snap to Grid when positioning text boxes on connector lines. This allows you to fine tune the size and position of the text boxes.
